What do we use a desk for? Keeping a computer off the floor? Leaning on to work, read or write? A landing area for paper based information? An area to create a personal space in an amorphous environment? A flat surface set at a convenient height to sit at? Or stand at?

Reduced to its simplest principles the desk is not a sophisticated part of the office landscape.

This is where we started with jot. Reduce it to its simplest terms and create the best possible solution to that requirement. Sure, it also needs to control cables, provide a safe environment, meet all the regulations, look good etc. etc. but these things are hygiene factors. The requirement is the desk. The solution is jot.

Having designed jot around these first principles, it is no surprise that the end product is a simple, elegant and beautiful solution. This is as a result of the design ethos being the right one, not coincidence.
